Sup Cultureheads? It’s been a while. Being that I’ve spent the majority of 2017 haunting many of the underground music venues here in Denver, when I was offered a chance to cover Gryffin’s sold-out Denver leg of his Castle in the Sky tour, I felt the need to embrace the change of pace. Since the start of his career, Gryffin has gained recognition for remixing some well-known songs such as Tove Lo's "Talking Body", Maroon 5's "Animals" and Years & Years' "Desire”, branding each with his self-described “melodic house” style of production.
Every year Red Rocks Amphitheater hosts a variety of musical genres and artists and each year Coloradans eagerly sit and wait to hear what artists will be announced. This year Frédérik Durand, otherwise known as Snails, announced one of the biggest events of the year to be featured on the rocks.
In life as we grow older it becomes harder and harder for us to find magic in the world around us. There aren’t many places we can go where we can say we feel something monumentally positive. These are the kind of places we can find our truest selves in. Places often full of love, music, community and nature. Places like Sonic Bloom.
The Take Note Colorado concert was Governor Hickenlooper’s kick off for his music initiative to improve and increase children’s access to musical education. “Twenty years from now, people are going to say, ‘Were you at that first Take Note concert?’ And you’ll say, ‘Yeah! I was there,’ ” Hickenlooper said to the crowd. With high hopes, the 1STBANK Center was about two thirds full, packed with people who came together for education and to see some of their favorite artists perform some of their greatest hits.
